The publisher (Rogue Phoenix Press) and the author enter into the following agreement:

 

  1. The publishers will assign an ISBN number for the work named below and will send it to pawprintspod.com, for printing as a print on demand, trade quality paperbound book.

  1. The publisher will furnish pawprintspod.com with an electronic file of the book, formatted, for pawprintspod.com to use as a master copy for printing purposes. The publisher will format the book for the author and will supply the front matter, the author bio page, and no more than two pages of Rogue Phoenix Press advertisement at the end of the book.
  2. Rogue Phoenix Press will provide the cover art free of charge. If the author has had the cover designed outside Rogue Phoenix Press services, the author must supply the publisher the cover art at these specifications: The front and back cover should be 6" by 9" and the spine should be 1" by 9". The resolution should be 300dpi.
  3. The publisher will check the proofs in a timely manner so that printing may begin. If there is ample time before the book/cover is uploaded, the author may see the finished word files. Authors are requested to proofread their books during the electronic printing process. Formatting errors may be checked for print, but no other changes can be made by the author at that time. Any changes in the text or the cover after the book is uploaded to pawprintspod.com are the financial responsibility of the author and will cost $75.00 USD per change.
  4. The authors agrees to abide by the agreement made with pawprintspod.com and the publisher, and to pay in equal shares any fees associated with the publishing of the novel as stated in this contract. These fees change from time to time. Check with the publisher to find out the latest information. In this case, the authors will agree to purchase from pawprintspod.com, 20 copies of the book (at wholesale price) plus shipping costs, within 45 days of the release of the book. The publisher will also provide the ISBN to the pawprintspod.com. The authors agrees to pay the pawprintspod.com fee and the formatting fee, due at least 60 days before the book is prepared for the printer.
  5. The publisher will set the retail price of the novel, allowing for discounts to the bookstores and distributors. The wholesale price is based upon the length of the book and the publisher's percentage.
  6. The publisher will register the print title at pawprintspod.com (our preferred outlet) as well as Rogue Phoenix Press. The author is encouraged to register the book at other outlets as well.
  7. The publisher will advertise the print version for sale at the Rogue Phoenix Press site and for sales generated through the site the authors will receive in equal shares 10% USD for each book sold.
  8. The author will be required to provide books to sell at signings, conventions, bookstores, and conferences. Because such orders are placed through the printer, the subsequent sales will count towards sales totals.
  9. Pawprintspod.com is responsible for shipping of the books to customers. The customer pays the shipping fees. Shipping costs for books sent to the author will be paid for by the author.
  10. The publisher will do everything in its power to assure that the book is of the highest quality and is produced in a timely manner and will work with the manuscript until it is finished. The author holds the publisher harmless for any costs incurred for books that must be reprinted or reshipped, if the problem is beyond the publisher's control and/or not caused by the publisher.
  11. The contract will be in force for three years after the date of the print book's release and is renewable by consent of both parties.
  12. The Author agrees to deliver to Publisher the completed work no later than two (2) months prior to the above-agreed-upon Release Date, in the format agreed upon by the Publisher's Executive Editor and Author. The Publisher reserves the right of final approval on final Work submissions. The Author shall be notified of such acceptance within thirty (30) days of receipt of Work or revised Work.
  13. The publisher agrees to communicate (by letter, fax, or email), a statement of account to the author on a quarterly basis, consisting of a record of all sales transactions received in the publisher's office up to the final day of the quarterly reporting period. Royalty checks will be issued within three weeks after the end of the quarter. 1099's will be supplied to any author receiving at least $10.00 in royalties at the end of the calendar year. The publisher may elect to hold back any royalty payment under $10.00 and pay it with the following quarter's royalty. all royalties will be paid at the end of the calendar year regardless of the total.
  14. The author may request information about his/her account at any time, and is advised to keep accurate records for tax purposes.
